Step 2

Verify provider and course approval

Use IDFPR's current provider list and open the provider's available courses. Match the legal provider identity, course title, hours, and format to the package being sold. Approval can change, so a review from last year or a former student's certificate cannot verify today's purchase.

Step 3

Check how interaction and attendance work

For the applied component, interaction should be real enough to support role plays, situations, cases, demonstrations, and what-if analysis. Ask how the platform verifies attendance and participation, what happens after a dropped connection, whether a camera or microphone is required, and how missed time is made up.

Your move: Choose meeting times and technology you can reliably sustain, not merely the shortest advertised calendar.

Step 4

Understand any proctored final before enrollment

The current rule requires a mandatory proctored final for each correspondence or home-study pre-license course, with at least 25 questions for each 15 credit hours and a minimum passing score of 75 percent. The registration material must say whether the examination is electronic, paper, or both. Remote proctoring must comply with law.

Your move: Ask who can proctor, which devices are supported, what identification is needed, and whether a failed attempt has another cost.

Step 5

Audit the technology and accessibility fit

Confirm browser, operating system, bandwidth, camera, microphone, pop-up, identity-verification, and document-upload requirements. If you need an accommodation or accessible materials, ask before the refund window closes. A phone-friendly sales page does not prove the entire course or proctoring system works well on a phone.

Step 6

Create a completion schedule that includes real study

Self-paced access can reduce commuting and improve schedule control, but it can also invite marathon clicking or long gaps. The curriculum covers property, agency, law, transactions, finance, calculations, contracts, title, leasing, and applied scenarios. Retention needs retrieval and practice between course sessions.

Your move: Block course time, a short review after each unit, weekly cumulative practice, and a finish date safely inside the access term.

Step 7

Inspect the certificate and complete PSI eligibility

After both components are complete, check the credential for your correct legal name, provider, course information, hours, and completion date. The current standard PSI process requires the candidate to upload the course certificate for review. Course access ending is not the same as PSI approval.
