The score report is a milestone, not a license. After passing, assemble the application around the exact identity, education, examination, sponsorship, disclosure, and fee requirements that apply to your route, then keep evidence until IDFPR posts the result.

Direct answer: A broker applicant must submit IDFPR's current signed and completed application, the $150 initial broker fee, proof of successful completion of the authorized examination, proof of sponsorship if seeking an active license, and a transcript when applicable. The current rule gives one year from receipt of the passing score to submit the application and meet all licensure requirements. The sponsorship rule also specifies documents and 24-hour submissions when initial sponsorship is established. Use the same legal name, birth information, tax identification, address, and contact details across PSI, education records, sponsorship, and the IDFPR application. Gather legal name-change records before submission when names differ. Review the public and mailing-address fields carefully because the application and law may treat records differently.
List professional licenses, discipline, denials, criminal matters, and other required history exactly as the current application asks. A truthful yes answer is not the same as automatic denial, while an inaccurate no can create a separate character and discipline problem.

Coordinate sponsorship and application timing
A sponsor may establish initial broker sponsorship upon receiving the passing score report. The sponsoring broker notifies IDFPR within 24 hours, and the applicant submits the rule's required transcript when applicable, pass report, signed application, supporting documents, and fee through the required format.
Ask the brokerage which steps it submits and which belong to you. Preserve both parties' receipts. If inactive status is preferred, confirm the current IDFPR application option and consequences rather than omitting sponsor material informally.

Submit early enough to correct a deficiency
The one-year rule is an outside deadline for submitting the application and meeting all licensing requirements, not a recommended wait. Apply while the exam records, sponsor communication, and education evidence are fresh. A deficiency near the end can be harder to resolve within the remaining time.
Monitor the email, portal, spam folder, and contact information used on the application. Reply through the authorized channel with exactly the requested document, and keep the submission proof. Do not send sensitive records to an address copied from an unofficial page.
Verify issuance before announcing the career
A submitted or paid application is pending, not approved. Check the IDFPR public license record and the sponsoring broker's internal confirmation. Confirm name, license number, status, sponsor, and expiration date. Save the electronic license and make it available as required during licensed activity.
Only after valid authority should the broker publish advertising, host open houses, solicit clients, negotiate, or perform other covered activity. Have the sponsor approve the first advertising and onboarding steps.
Example: a complete application beats a fast one
Situation: Riley passes on August 8, signs with a sponsor on August 10, and rushes through the application. Riley answers yes to a prior professional discipline question but uploads no explanation because the court records will arrive later.
Best response: Riley should read the exact application instruction and obtain the required official and explanatory records before submitting an incomplete disclosure package, while staying well inside the one-year window. Riley and the sponsor should coordinate the 24-hour sponsorship submissions and preserve receipts. No licensed activity begins while the file is pending.
